We work with parents to help them contribute positively to their children’s development.  We offer community education programs on topical issues, emotional and practical support to families, and help parents to maintain positive parent/child relationships.

Community Education and Skills Development

Our Community Education Program provides group and/or community based opportunities for learning. Topics are identified according to needs identified in the community. Examples include:

• Parenting
• Anger management
• Early childhood behaviour management
• Communication
• Budgeting
• Strengthening adult relationships

Family Support

We provide emotional and practical support to families in the Tuggeranong and Weston Creek communities experiencing:

• family crisis situations
• relationship difficulties 
• financial hardship
• domestic violence
• housing difficulties
• lifestyle difficulties
• problems with communication and conflict

The Program provides a variety of approaches including case work, information and advice, advocacy and referrals to other agencies.

This is an ACT Government funded service and there is no fee for our support services.

Parenting Matters

Parenting can be a very challenging and difficult process especially if undertaken in isolation.  Parenting Matters provides practical support to families to promote and maintain positive parent/child relationships and enable parents to deal effectively with their children’s behaviour.

The programs provide information and support through:

• Promoting improved understanding of children’s stages of development;
• Helping parents put behaviours into perspective;
• Assisting parents to implement ways to work with challenging behaviours;
• Putting families in touch with other support services in the area;
• Providing written resources specific to the issues faced by families.

A Parenting Skills program offers parents the opportunity to meet other parents and discuss parenting related issues.

We are an ACT Government funded service.  There is no fee for our support services.
