This unique program for older children and young people who love to create (make, build, construct, model, photograph, film, animate), was first ‘revealed’ by nature of the shifting sands of experiences of the artistic directors of Creative Catalyst and Vala Club.

Like a legend haunted lost city in a vast desert, the Shifting Sands program beckons to all those with the imagination and curiosity to explore its many vaulted palaces…

Each school holiday program Shifting Sands will include a selection from the following full range:-

• Miniatures, modelling, mixed-media crafts- figurines, terrain & structures
• Masks & make-up, costumes & character props
• Character art, story-boards, script-writing
• Multimedia- audio, photo, & video recording including stop-motion leading to animation

This Winter in Canberra the sands of manifestation are shifting with the currents of imagination.
What is this that the all-seeing Sultan espies?
The shifting sands have revealed a wondrous city with tall spindly buildings scraping the sky and seeming to waver with the gaseous breezes from the vast inland sea on whose shores it is built.
The Shifting Sands program will continue to bring a fantasy otherworld to life; not only creating 3D visions of it in miniature but also embarking upon a course leading to the animation of miniature figures moving stealthily through its back-alleys, wielding super-powers on the fly above its buildings, and manipulating alchemical essences along with robotic parts in sterile laboratories deep within mercantile strongholds.

Held in the excellently appointed art wing of Yarralumla Primary School.
All workshops are from 9am – 5pm with morning tea, afternoon tea and lunch provided.
(Optional extras: Early Start yoga & breakfast 8 – 9am & Late Finish storytelling and refreshments 5 – 6pm)
