ACT Playgroups Association

Playgroups are informal sessions where parents, caregivers, babies and children aged 0 to 5 come together in a relaxed and friendly environment. Playgroup helps children have fun, make new friends, and develop new skills through informal play. Playgroup helps parents and caregivers make friends and share ideas and experiences. Playgroups are located throughout the ACT: there's probably a Playgroup right near you!

Playtime!

Playtime is a play session designed for children under school age. The program is put together by a child care worker and is supported by a number of members of our church. Playtime 2006 will be held on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:30am to 11:30am. The cost will be $2.00 per session or to secure a full-time position in a session $15.00 per 10 week period.

Play & Learn Sessions at Noah's Ark

Noah’s Ark Resource Centre provides play & learn sessions to encourage social interaction and development for children in a safe, fun filled and happy environment. Sessions are available 10am to 12 midday Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday Thursday and Friday. Fees are paid by the term and must be paid in advance.

  • Fees are $8.80 per session 1st child
  • $4.40 per session 2nd child (under 1 year old, no charge)
  • Annual membership with Noah’s Ark Resource Centre is necessary

Healthy Families Playgroup

A fun, hands on look at play and parenting. This facilitated playgroup provides parents with the opportunity to meet with other parents and guide their children's play in a supportive and welcoming enviroment. The playgroup provides art and craft, music, stories and other activities. A facilitator is available to support parents if they have any questions relating to parenting issues. Australian Breastfeeding Association Playgroup

Come along to our fun-filled playgroups and occupy the kids for a few hours. The Australian Breastfeeding associations Mt Rogers and Southern Cross Groups run a regular playgroup every fortnight during school term, 10am-12 noon. All are welcome. Contact and Lisa for more information.

Rhyming Connections

A program designed for parents and their young children/babies. It is a FREE 10 week program targeting inner north families and focuses on the pleasure and power of using rhymes, songs and stories together. Teaching is directed to the adults with the children (one child per adult) joining in, playing or napping.

Program begins 6 September 2007 for 10 weeks on Thursdays 9:30am-11:00am

Little Taks

Little Taks facilitate playgroups for 0-5 year olds that provide a fun and safe environment for carers and their children to enjoy  spontaneous and structured play. It is also a great place for parents to develop new relationships, share advice and receive support and encouragement in the important role of caring for children.

Rhythm, Rhyme, Music Time @ Cotton Tree Playgroup
Cotton Tree Playgroup meets every Wednesday 10.00am to 12.00pm during school terms at 61 Templeton Street, Cook (in the hall located between Cook Shops and Cook primary school)
All Welcome. Morning includes a music, rhyme and movement session of 20-30 minutes, story time, morning tea and free play. It's also a great time for mums to connect over a cuppa.  Donation welcomed $2 per week.

Mums in Business Playgroup

The BusinessMums Playgroup is a non-profit playgroup aimed at providing
support for mothers who have chosen to start and run their own businesses
whilst staying at home and raising their children.

The playgroup provides a friendly environment where the children can play
and mums can break some of the isolation that often comes with working from
home.

The playgroup takes place on Mondays from 10am to 12pm at Theiss
Cottage, Reynell Place, Kambah. It operates in a custom-fitted playgroup
venue with:

  • A safe, softfall-covered outdoor play area with sandpit, climbing
    structure, tricycles, scooters, balls and plenty of outside toys
  • An indoor toyroom with cubby-house, climbing gym, toys, dress-ups, library
    and musical instruments
  • A fully-stocked craft area
  • A child-sized bathroom for the kids and a separate bathroom for adults
  • Changetables, bouncers and high-chairs
  • Comfortable chairs for breastfeeding
  • A secure kitchen area with microwave, fridge, oven and tea and coffee
    making facilities

The fees are $20 per term per family and an annual ACT Playgroup Association
fee of $29 per family.

My Time Playgroup for Children with Disabilities or Chronic Illness

ACT Playgroups is facilitating a playgroup for children with Disabilities or Chronic Illness and their siblings in the ACT aged 0-6years

About My Time

My Time groups provide local support for cares of a young child under school age with a disability or chronic health condition.

My Time gives parents the chance to socialise and share ideas with others who understand the rewards and intensity of the caring role.  Parents meet with people in similar circumstances who can understand their children's achievements and help with the challenges, to have fun, and find out about available community support.

Children will have opportunities for both free and structured play activities including music, gross and fine motor play activities, sensory play and stories.

The group will be supported by two early childhood trained facilitations from ACT Playgroups. 

Day and Time:  Thursday 12:00pm - 2:00pm
